Holistic Counselling Support Services

Who are our services for?

Inner Motus specialises in supporting people experiencing relationship content, including challenging family and partner relationships, attachment and childhood traumas, parenting support, grief states and conflict resolution. We work with couples, parents, individuals, families, LGBTIQA+ identifying people, and those experiencing a disability. Counselling is for anyone who wants to talk about what is going on in their lives, relationships, and inner worlds. It can be a very helpful short term therapy for getting through tough times in our lives.

The path of self-creation is not for the faint of soul. It will take everything you’ve got to overcome misguided cultural conditioning and seemingly impossible circumstances. And, even then, you will have to contend with your own internalized shame and self-doubt. It’s an uncomfortable adventure that will stretch your consciousness well beyond its habitual range of e- motion. And yet, do you really have a choice? Isn’t that why you are here?

When Counselling can Support your Journey?

Holistic counselling is good for times when we want to engage our mental processes, our awareness of self and patterns. We look at the whole system (mental, emotional, physical, spiritual bodies) from a holistic lens, understanding the intricate nature of the human experience; as well as taking into account the systems many of us operate within. Counselling can be helpful when working through challenging transitions such as:

  • Moving through grief states

  • Relationship patterns

  • Working with conflict in relationships or work

  • Attachment wounding

  • Nervous system support and education

  • Working through family dynamics and internal family systems

  • Challenges with purpose and work

  • Stress and health issues

  • Understanding and working with your mental health

  • Big life transitions and changes

Talk therapy can be a limited form of therapy when used solo or for complex trauma, including childhood attachment wounding, chronic pain, PTSD, Identity Disorders. Counselling can be a very good “bookend” for these types of presentations. For example, talking and building a trusting relationship with a therapist can help us ease into deeper trauma somatic based therapies, such as breathwork. Counselling can be used in conjunction and alongside other trauma specific based modalities.

Modalities and Techniques we use during the Sessions

we aim to have all our session be trauma informed (working within your window of tolerance and we slowly build this capacity). We will do our best to communicate with you about your needs and if our services will be supportive for where you are at. We use the following counselling modalities as needed throughout sessions:

  • Internal Family systems (Inner child, inner parent and conscious adult)

  • Family systems (external family patterns and dynamics

  • Guided Imagery

  • Somatic based techniques to support you to connect with the felt senses in your body

  • Transpersonal therapeutic techniques

  • Existential, Transpersonal and Psychodynamic techniques

Sessions can be held either online or in person. Please contact me for in person sessions. You will need to have a quiet safe place to do the sessions. It may be helpful for you to wear comfortable clothes, be at a temperature that is comfortable for you, bring water, a tea and a journal.
